Just Getting Back

I've been offline for two weeks, but had a couple of posts preposted - thank goodness.

I was in the path of Hurricane Sandy. My basement, which was my daughter's apartment, was flooded. She lost just about everything.

But, there are those who lost their houses and cars. And, some lost their lives. So, my family was fortunate.

We were without electric for 11 days and just got it back Friday night. We're still without heat, but I think we may be getting a boiler today.

My prayers go out to all those effected by Sandy, and especially to those who lost their homes, cars, and family members.

I've been asked about where to send things like blankets and clothing to those who lost everything, but I'm not sure where to send them. The Red Cross may be helpful.

Some area churches are accepting donations. And, Walmart sent a shipment of donations to St. John's College today.

Hope to be back to a regular posting schedule in a week or two.

Karen

I'm so sorry you were affected by Hurricane Sandy. No electricity for 11 days. I can't imagine it.

Here outside of Boston, we worried through the storm, but although neighbors and friends lost trees and power, our house was spared.

I hope you and your daughter will be back on your feet, and none the worse for wear, soon! I'll be looking forward to your posts.

Lynette, Thank you so much for your kind words. Glad to hear you weren't hit by Sandy. Here, Long Island got a lot of wind damage, trees down and such.

It'll take longer than I thought to get back up and running, but I'm trying. Still dealing with FEMA and my insurance company . . . and the clean up and organizing.

My daughter and her dog are staying with me for the time being.

Widder, Thanks so much for your concern. The ordeal and dealing with the aftermath is taking a toll on my health - just completely wiped out.

I'm still not online regularly, just can't seem to get back in the groove.

Susanne, Thanks so much for the prayers; they're certainly appreciated. It's hard to grasp how widespread Sandy's destruction was.

I'm off to FEMA again today.
